In this section I would like to pass on some of the knowledge I have learnt over the years, Giving tips and tricks and  ideas on how best to train and structure your training sessions.

I have been climbing for about 11 years and have been coaching for around 6 of them, having completed both my SPA and CWLA qualifications.  I’ve been a member of both the Junior British Team and Senior Bouldering Team, which I was on for 6 years. I have been British Bouldering Champion and my best result internationally was 15th in a World Championships held in China in 2005.  I have climbed up to E7 on trad, Sport climbed up to F8b and bouldered up to Font 8a+.  I have been a British Junior Team coach and I have been running a Youth Squad at UCR in Bristol for the last two years, with climbing abilities ranging from beginner to elite with kids competing and winning at national level.  Most recently I have been working with the BMC, as one of the coaches for their Talented Climbing Academies and have also been asked to run sessions with instructors on how to deliver performance coaching at level 5 of NICAS.

Please find below some examples of sessions.

  1. Hello Ben, I have returned to climbing after a 10 year gap but this is my first time at really getting in to it, I do top rope at 5C (working on 6A) with a view to do a leading course at UCR in March.

How would I go about looking in to getting some coaching and advice about training plans?

    Kind regards

    Jimmy Reeves

    • Hi Jimmy, glad to see your getting back into it. The best way going about getting some advice would be to contact Nicci in the office at Undercover Rock. She would be able look at booking in for a session with either myself or another one of the coaches here. You can contact her on:

      0117 908 3491

The booking office is open 10 – 4 weekdays.

      Manny Thanks

  2. I’m so proud & impressed by all you are doing & all you have accomplished & become Ben! Love you much & miss you tons!
